Colombo Rovers – Scouting Webinar Series
Colombo Rovers managed to start a new trend by successfully organizing the first-ever scouting webinar series in Sri Lanka, on theme ‘life competencies and scouting skills’. This was an initiative taken by the 75th Colombo District Rover Crew to benefit the Scouts and Rovers who are currently stranded in their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The webinar series premiered on 6th April 2020 live on 75th Colombo’s official Facebook page. It concluded with 8 successful webinars where the final one wrapped up on the 30th of April 2020. The series of webinars was co-hosted by Rover Mate Senal Jayawardana and Secretary Nilukshan Krishnaram. Some notable speakers including Singer Dushyanth Weeraman, Dr. Beshan Kulapala, Major Ruvan Ranatunga (retd.) and Prof. Gihan Dias expressed their views on leading a skillful life as Scouts and Rovers. Also, District and National officials including Mr. Ruwan Ariyarathne, Mr. Dharshana Ranatunga and Dr. Chrishan Kularatnam were able to share their knowledge on their areas of expertise in the Scouting syllabus.
